A hearty and comforting dish, Daal Mash (Urad Dal) is packed with rich, nutty flavours and a smooth textured grains. Cooked in Special Handi Mix and finished with a buttery tempering, this recipe is perfect with naan or chapati. Quick, easy, and full of protein—this will be your go-to daal recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup daal mash (125g) – soaked for 30 minutes
  • 1 – 2 tbsps (25-50g) Handi Mix
  • 1 1/2 – 2 glass water (375-500ml)
  • Red Chillies (If you like it hot)
  • Salt to taste (If Needed)
  • Garnish fresh chopped and golden fried onion, coriander leaves and/or chopped green chilies (Optional)

Flavour-Boosting Tricks:

Use ghee instead of oil for a richer, more traditional taste.
For a restaurant-style finish, add a spoonful of butter at the end with Tarka.
A squeeze of fresh half lemon juice enhances the taste and balances the spices.

Quick Method:

  • Add soaked daal mash into the pan.
  • Add water
  • Add & stir Special Handi Mix paste until all is mixed well.
  • Cover the pan with the lid. Let it simmer for 25-30 minutes until the daal is soft but grainy.
  • Dish out and add Tarka (golden fried onion, green chillie & coriander leaves) and serve hot!
